South Tyneside Festival 2025: Sonny Tennet Lights Up Bents Park

Summer in the UK hits different, especially when you're soaking in fresh seaside air, live music, and good company. On Sunday, July 13th, 2025, Dee3conceptsTravels had the immense pleasure of attending the South Tyneside Festival’s iconic Open Air Sunday Concert at Bents Park in South Shields.

The star of the afternoon? None other than local sensation Sonny Tennet, who brought the house (or should we say, the park) down with his soulful tunes and stage presence. Blankets were laid, folding chairs unfolded, and hearts uplifted in a feel-good atmosphere that screamed summer joy.

It wasn’t just about music—it was a cultural gathering of families, locals, tourists, and music lovers. There was laughter, food, dancing, and a vibe of unity that echoed the spirit of the festival.

Discovering Morpeth: A Hidden Gem of Northumberland You Need to Explore.

Discovering Morpeth: A Hidden Gem of Northumberland You Need to Explore.

Intro: Who says you need to travel far for adventure? Just a short journey from Newcastle, I found myself wandering through the charming market town of Morpeth, and I left with memories, smiles—and soggy shoes (more on that later!). Whether you’re into quaint shops, riverside walks, or fun-filled parks, Morpeth has something for everyone.

1. First Impressions – Morpeth Town Centre & Sanderson Arcade.

As I stepped into Sanderson Arcade, I felt like I had just stumbled into a scene from a Hallmark movie. Think cobbled streets, elegant storefronts, and that perfect blend of local charm and high-street favourites. From grabbing a coffee at Barluga to browsing artisan boutiques, every corner whispered, “stay a little longer.”

Interactive prompt: Have you been to Sanderson Arcade? Drop your favourite shop or coffee spot in the comments!

2. Retail Therapy with a View – Morpeth Shops.

Shopping in Morpeth isn’t just a task—it’s an experience. From traditional markets to independent stores, there’s a sense of community that you don’t often find elsewhere. I picked up some handcrafted goodies (support local!) and even discovered a vintage bookstore tucked away like a secret waiting to be found. #MorpethMoments!

3. Riverside Magic – The Peaceful Morpeth Riverside Walk.

After the bustle of the shops, I wandered down to the Morpeth riverside, where nature sings and time slows down. Ducks paddled past, wildflowers danced in the breeze, and locals strolled with dogs and ice creams. I couldn’t resist just sitting on a bench and letting the river soundtrack my thoughts.

4. Carlisle Park Adventures – Boats, Slides & Big Smiles.

Here’s where the child in me came alive—Carlisle Park is a little paradise! I hopped into a small boat and paddled (okay, struggled a bit) along the river, laughing the whole way. The views were lush and calming, perfect for families, couples, or solo explorers like me. Then there were gardens, play areas, and even a splash of history at the William Turner Garden.

5. Final Thoughts – Why Morpeth Deserves a Spot on Your Travel List.

Morpeth isn’t flashy, but that’s its magic. It’s the kind of place where you reconnect—with nature, with people, and even with yourself. Whether you're planning a weekend escape or just passing through, this town will surprise you in the best way. Call to action: Planning a trip to Morpeth or already been?
